Walking in darkness

The above is inspired by a coaching session over breakfast. The client has aspirations to build a potential free lance career outside of her 9-5 job, but stuck with the multiple “But” in her head, and various presumptions she thought need to exist before she can move forward. Her 2 young kids and husband who is also in career transition didn’t help her situation. What she can see is only uncertainty and risks, and watching other people’s achievement and transition made her feel that perhaps it is not her time yet and she lacks the bravery to move.

I challenged the presumptions she held, and when she chuckled and commented “Oh, I actually don’t need these to start something..”, you knew something had shifted within her.

Her eyes lit up with energy and her ideas kept flowing through on what she may explore even though I only asked if there is one little step that she can take. When the mindset shifts even a little, it could create just enough space for the river to flow through...

Sometimes when you try to look too far ahead, your brain creates the scariest movie in your mind and gave you an almost perfect excuse not to do anything...Perhaps focusing on what you can see in front of you and putting one foot ahead of the other may serve you better.
